XL Axiata has partnered with Cisco to launch a cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity management platform that addresses the complexity of large-scale IoT deployments while providing enterprise-grade security.

XL Axiata's IoT Connectivity+ platform aims to address the increasing complexity of large-scale IoT deployments due to the variety of devices and their varying technological sophistication, particularly in areas such as cybersecurity.

The IoT Connectivity+ platform also promises a unified architecture, AI-powered anomaly detection, real-time device monitoring, and analytics to help Indonesian businesses accelerate innovative IoT use cases.

The IoT platform includes enterprise-level, end-to-end security to protect users, devices, and critical infrastructure. This includes real-time device monitoring and analytics to identify unusual data or connectivity patterns.

XL Axiata stated that the platform enables businesses to accelerate innovative IoT use cases tailored to their specific business needs while managing everything on a single platform. They can also choose a rate plan based on real-time usage to better manage and control expenses.

XL Axiata expects IoT connections in Indonesia to triple by 2028 and plans to target connected car OEMs, major banks, electrical utility providers, security solutions, and fleet management customers with its IoT services.

Managing Cellular IoT Connectivity

Yessie D. Yosetya, director and chief enterprise business and corporate affairs officer at XL Axiata, said that Indonesia's IoT industry is expanding exponentially as the country strives to realize its smart cities' vision and that managing cellular IoT connectivity at scale is critical to achieving that goal.

“As connectivity continues to improve across Indonesia, businesses are now looking to scale IoT deployments and bring various use cases to life. However, they realize that to be successful in this area in the long run, they need to ensure they can address the complexity associated with IoT deployment and keep them secure from malicious actors,” Yosetya added. “As such, they need a simple, scalable, and secure platform that can help them achieve those goals and XL Axiata IoT Connectivity+ provides exactly that.”

Yosetya also stated that the IoT Connectivity+ platform will lay the groundwork for bringing a new wave of large-scale IoT applications to market in the future, particularly those that leverage 5G and other emerging technologies.
