International engineering, design and advisory company Aurecon reaffirmed its commitment to building a multi-faceted engineering consultancy business in Greater China with the appointment of two industry veterans, Fredrick Leong and Kam Tim (KT) Lee as Executive Director, Environmental - Greater China and Technical Director – Electrical respectively in February 2020.

Based in Hong Kong, these two senior appointments are in line with Aurecon’s strategy to help clients derive increased value from their buildings and infrastructure projects and grow its business in Asia.

“Our clients in Greater China are increasingly concerned about the long-term risks and opportunities arising from sustainability issues and climate change in their projects. Having Fredrick and KT on board, we are well positioned to provide clients with a broader suite of services, especially in the environmental and power segments,” said Johnny Lam, Managing Director – Greater China, Aurecon.

Fredrick has more than 20 years of experience as an environmental consultant, specialising in environmental impact assessment; sustainable design; green building assessment and certification; industrial pollution control; environmental monitoring and audit; environmental due diligence; land and marine contamination assessment and remediation; waste management; landfill gas hazard assessment; indoor air quality in Greater China and regionally around Asia.

A highly experienced team leader who has demonstrated client-centricity, Fredrick has also led public and stakeholder consultations, helping clients make sense of the complex issues surrounding their projects.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Aurecon. Never before has the industry encountered so many challenges from the environment and climate change, technological disruption and competition from non-traditional service providers. I am very excited to help Aurecon’s clients better understand their choices and opportunities,” said Fredrick.

Fredrick serves as a Committee Member of the Hong Kong Branch of The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), UK. He is also a reviewer for several professional journals including CIWEM’s Water and Environment Journal. To develop the next generation of environmental engineers, Fredrick also lectures at universities and other local institutions on a part-time basis and is an Engineering Supervisor for Engineering Graduate Training Scheme “A” in Environmental Engineering Discipline of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

Fredrick joins Aurecon from Meinhardt Infrastructure & Environment Ltd, where he was Technical Director.

KT has 34 years of experience in the design, project management, construction management and quality control of electrical and mechanical installations in buildings, data centres, casinos, infrastructure, utilities, railway and tunnels projects in Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia and Philippines.

With strong leadership skills and in-depth understanding of multidisciplinary projects in Asia, KT’s focus will be on delivering projects to the highest standards and developing the next generation of engineers to translate their technical abilities into real world outcomes for clients.

“I am thrilled to be part of this next stage of Aurecon’s growth in the region in a time of unprecedented growth and innovation. Energy consumption and conservation are key sustainability concerns for our clients, and I look forward to bringing Aurecon’s local and global expertise to help clients design better systems and revenue return in their projects,” said KT.

A Registered Professional Engineer (Electrical), KT is also a Registered Energy Assessor and accredited tier designer of Uptime Institute. KT joins Aurecon from Ove Arup & Partners where he was Associate Director.
