StarHub 5G is here! Over the last 20 years, StarHub has become synonymous with offering new and customer-focused innovations first to everyone in Singapore. StarHub will be the first to unleash 5G services for customers in Singapore. With StarHub’s new Mobile+ or Biz+ mobile plans, customers will be able to automatically experience some early 5G benefits using compatible mobile devices currently available in the market. The early trial access to StarHub 5G is free-of-charge for customers in the lead up to the full commercial launch of ultra-fast, ultra-responsive 5G standalone services next year.

5G is now a reality for Singaporeans and the journey to introduce 5G services to them is well underway. StarHub 5G signals currently cover 53% of Singapore’s populated areas and will expand to reach 70% coverage by September 2020. The areas include busy locations and major residential hubs, such as Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Central Business District, Clementi, Jurong, Orchard, Tampines, Woodlands and Yishun, among others.

“Just as how steam, electricity and electronics have enriched our lives, the technology revolution of our era – 5G – will usher in unprecedented speed, simplicity and instantaneity, changing the way we work, play, browse, game, watch and create,” said Johan Buse, Chief of Consumer Business Group, StarHub.

“Given the broad and infinite possibilities of 5G, we are eager for our customers to catch an early glimpse into the ultra-fast speed and ultra-low-latency upgrades that will empower hundreds of thousands of consumers, enterprises, government clients and Singapore. Our customers’ experience means a great deal to StarHub, and we will never stop trying to enhance their lives through 5G information and communication technologies and digital innovation.”

StarHub 5G is currently ‘live’ on 2100MHz spectrum on a non-standalone architecture, similar to other overseas 5G networks. Nokia is the technology partner for StarHub 5G. This early 5G trial will run till 16 February 2021. By mid-2021 StarHub will offer ultra-fast and ultra-responsive 5G services on 3.5GHz spectrum on a standalone architecture to underpin next-generation ICT and digital innovation for Singapore, from secure private networking to advanced manufacturing, fully autonomous drones, robots and vehicles, pioneering remote health treatments, immersive AR/VR entertainment, cloud gaming, enhanced remote working capabilities and plug-and-play fixed wireless access.

Over the next few months, StarHub will roll out a series of simple messages and videos through various platforms to demystify 5G for customers and help them understand its tangible benefits better.
