China Mobile awarded a network contract valued at $1.16 billion to the country’s major equipment vendors Huawei and ZTE. Previously-invited foreign vendors Ericsson and Nokia have been left out, showing another geopolitical strain between the West and China.

Chindata Group, a leading carrier-neutral hyperscale data center solution provider in Asia-Pacific emerging markets, announced that it has recently participated in China’s first nationwide green power transaction, and completed a procurement of 100 million kilowatt-hours (kWh). Such volume represents around 1.26% of the overall transaction and is expected to directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 94,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. According to public data, a total of 259 domestic Chinese entities participated in this green power transaction, with a total transaction volume of 7.935 billion kWh.

According to Datacentrepricing, a data centre research specialist, over 1.5 million square meters of space is under development for data centres in the Asia Pacific region. Amid increasing shipment volumes, DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has introduced DHLBot, an AI-powered (artificial intelligence) robotic arm that automates parcel sortation, in two countries in Asia Pacific. The DHLBot will complement manual sortation of small parcels and enable hubs and gateways to handle greater volumes, particularly during peak season, while increasing overall operational efficiency by at least 40 percent.

Toku, Asia Pacific's only dedicated cloud communications provider, announced the completion of a $5 million Series A funding round. Delivery Hero-backed DX Ventures led the round, with participation from existing investors including Tembusu Partners and Neptune Invest Asia. The Singapore-based company will use the funding to enhance its product capabilities and coverage, so it can further simplify digital transformation for the region's businesses.
