Smart Communications, Inc., (Smart) the wireless subsidiary of PLDT Inc., has announced that it will begin rolling out its 5G network at new sites, enhancing the connectivity of Metro Manila.

Commenting on the program, Smart’s Chief Operating Officer, Anastacio R. Martirez, said, “Our ramped-up network rollout and enhancement initiatives are key to delivering unmatched customer satisfaction through superior connectivity, accelerating business growth while reinforcing our dedication to nation-building, driving progress, and shaping the country’s digital future.”

The initiative focuses on the rollout of additional 4G/LTE and 5G sites and the expansion of existing sites across the country, including key cities such as Manila, Taguig, Valenzuela, Makati, Pasig, and Quezon City, to address the increasing demand for seamless mobile data experiences.

Expanding Network Connectivity

TNT, Smart’s value brand recently launched the TNT 5G Max in Taguig and its surrounding areas to boost the community’s 5G network experience, delivering faster speeds and more reliable connectivity.

Additionally, Smart strengthened its 5G network coverage in major event venues, including the Smart Araneta in Quezon City, the SM Mall of Asia Arena (MOA) in Pasay City, and the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, enhancing network performance.

These strategic efforts were reflected in major events across the country where Smart’s 5G network delivered unmatched 5G speeds in the Philippine and MOA Arenas, with the latter exhibiting speeds exceeding 200 Mbps.

The Road to Digitalization

With Smart’s mobile network covering 97% of the population, continued investments are being implemented to enhance its integrated network infrastructure.

Debbie M. Hu, Smart’s Network Head, highlighted, “We continue to invest in enhancing our mobile network to meet the needs of our subscribers, whether they need it to elevate their gaming, stay updated with the shows they are streaming, or to simply keep sharing their life moments and milestones with loved ones online.”

Smart’s strategic moves demonstrate its commitment to driving overall digitalization across the country by providing top-notch connectivity and customer experience, narrowing the digital divide, and achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on SDG 9, which encompasses industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
