Chinese multinational vendor ZTE has announced a partnership agreement with US chipmaker Qualcomm at Mobile World Congress which will see the companies combine resources and expertise in an effort to accelerate the development of the ‘connected car’.

Chinese search-engine colossus Baidu which is the country’s equivalent to Google has announced plans to invest $1.5bn in self-driving technology as part of its overall strategy to expand the ecosystem of its Apollo autonomous vehicle platform.

Chinese multinational telecommunications vendor ZTE has seen its innovative NB-IoT application recognized globally by being awarded the prestigious GLOMO award at Mobile World Congress 2018. It was ZTE’s ‘smart parking’ solution which won the Best Mobile Service for the Connected Life GLOMO 2018 at the industry trade show currently being hosted in Barcelona.

The world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer Foxconn has announced that it plans to invest the $4.3bn it raised from a listing of one of its units in Shanghai into ambitious and innovative AI, 5G and Internet of Things projects.

The Indian government has announced that it will develop a national program on AI after acknowledging that the emerging technology has been the potential to reshape and revolutionize the world as we know it. It has also been reported that India is looking to China for inspiration and will attempt to replicate its business model and strategic approach to Artificial Intelligence in order to become a global AI superpower.

India’s smartphone market has reported an increase in growth as Chinese vendors continue to dominate the mobile manufacturing industry in the country. Growth in the Indian smartphone market stagnated in 2016, but it returned to strong growth in 2017 and was the best performer amongst the top-20 smartphone markets globally, according to the IDC.

The world’s largest mobile transportation platform Didi Chuxing has partnered with Chinese traffic management authorities to introduce its new innovative integrated solution for smart city traffic management in the country. The platform has been named as the DiDi Smart Transportation Brain.
