The School of Science and Technology of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) has partnered with HKT to foster innovative collaboration, research and talent development, paving the way for the sustainable development of the ICT industry in Hong Kong.

Japan’s NEC Corporation, NTT Communications Corporation, Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Internet Initiative Japan Inc. have announced that they have signed a contract with JSC Uzbektelecom for a telecommunications infrastructure development project.

The United States government, through the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), is providing NOW Telecom Company, Inc. a $2.15 million grant to fund a feasibility study for the development of reliable and secure nationwide 5G mobile and broadband networks in the Philippines.

Dialog has successfully tested mmWave 5G for the first time in South Asia. Conducted through its fully owned subsidiary, Dialog Broadband Networks, the trials achieved 5G download speeds greater than 4 Gbps on non-standalone (NSA) mode using mmWave, attaining significantly higher throughputs than current standards.

AWS has launched the AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) Region, its second   in Australia, to allow developers, startups, entrepreneurs and enterprises, as well as government, education and nonprofit organizations, to run their applications and serve end users from AWS data centers located in Australia.

International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates worldwide shipments of used smartphones, including officially refurbished and used smartphones, will reach 282.6 million units in 2022. The unit growth represents an 11.5% increase over the 253.4 million units shipped in 2021. This growth is expected to continue, as IDC forecasts used smartphone shipments will reach 413.3 million units in 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 10.3% from 2021 to 2026.
