Singapore-based Super Sea Cable Networks has selected Huawei Marine to deploy its SEA Cable Exchange-1 (SeaX-1) cable that will connect the Eastern seaboard of Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, and NEC is to build the Telekom Indonesia's Indonesia Global Gateway cable.

Japanese telco Softbank has announced plans to launch a LoRaWAN low powered wide area radio network for IoT in the current 2016 fiscal year and offer end-to-end IoT solutions, ranging from device and application support to consulting.

Nokia has revealed that Thai fixed and mobile network operator, True Group, has deployed Nokia's IP/MPLS routing technology to upgrade its broadband infrastructure in Bangkok in an upgrade that was completed in May 2016.

According to Nokia, surging demand for ultra-broadband fixed and mobile services, such as high-definition video and business services, have helped drive a dramatic increase in data traffic across True's network, in both the city and surrounding areas.

The ASC Signal Division of Communications and Power Industries LLC (CPI) has been awarded a contract for four 7.6m C and Ku-band capable antenna from NorthTelecom.  The antenna will be installed at one of the company's teleports with an emphasis on enhancing its offerings to a range of vertical sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.  According to ASC Signal, the four antennas will incorporate ASC's Next Generation Controller (NGC).  The award includes training services for the NGC controller.

Singtel's Australian subsidiary, Optus, has signed a MoU with Nokia to collaborate on the development of 5G, initially through a trial using Optus spectrum in the 3.5GHz band. The two say they will trial an early 5G prototype in the band '” whch has been globally harmonized by the ITU '” in Australia in 2017.
