Almost 200 Chinese and non-Chinese organizations have banded together under the auspices of the Electronic Information Division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to form the Industry of Virtual Reality Alliance (IVRA.com), billed as 'The only official, government-endorsed VR organization in China.'

The Singapore Government has launched the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) to spearhead its digital and data strategy, saying it will partner public agencies, industry and citizens to transform public service delivery through the use of technologies such as data science and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications arm of NTT, has become the first Japanese company to have its platform certified by the Cloud Foundry Foundation. The Foundation's certification is designed to establish reliable portability across platforms in multivendor, multicloud environments.

IDC says it expects spending on IoT by Chinese manufacturing enterprises to reach $US127.5 billion by 2020, a compound average growth rate of 14.7 percent from 2016 to 2020.

IDC says software and services between them will account for 60 percent of expenditure. It notes that IoT has been enshrined in China's 13th Five-Year Development Plan and has become a strategic emerging industry in the country.
