Singtel has launched a managed advanced threat prevention (ATP) service based on technology from IT security company Palo Alto Networks. It uses Palo Alto Networks' security platform comprising next-generation firewall, threat intelligence cloud and advanced endpoint protection.

Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, and PCCW Global, the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong's premier telecommunications service provider, jointly announced on August 25 their expanded strategic collaboration to provide cloud based anti-DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) security products to enterprises.

Huawei Marine Networks claims to have achieved another breakthrough in transmission across an unrepeatered submarine cable with a transmission distance of 648.5 km in a laboratory test in Beijing. The test was performed on a 100Gbps channel over an ultra low loss optical fiber.

Singtel has launched a suite of software defined network and hybrid cloud services. They include the Data Center and Cloud Connect Service (DC Connect), billed as a first-of-its-kind software-defined network service for Singapore. It allows firms to easily access and move their data seamlessly between public and private clouds in more than 20 data centers using a single connection.

Japan Digital Serve Corporation (JDS) has chosen the Ericsson cloud-based MediaFirst suite as a next-generation TV platform from which to deliver a range of video services to its subscribers.  According to Ericsson, the move will enable JDS's cable operators to offer highly personalized and seamless TV and video services across more devices to their subscribers.

NTT Group has launched NTT Security Corporation saying it will bring together NTT's advanced analytics technologies, threat intelligence and security experts to deliver 'industry-leading managed security services (MSS) and specialized security professional services that support the full security life cycle.'

US-based DMI (which claims to be the world's first end-to-end mobility company) has announced a collaboration with Cambodian service provider Wing to enable Wing's customers to transfer, deposit and withdraw money via their mobile phones. Wing customers download the Wing app, iOS and Android, to enable this functionality.
